Aluminum Casting Workshop

Aluminum Casting Workshop

Experiment with a variety of casting techniques using aluminum. Students will work in wax, carve styrofoam and use found object to create small sculptures. Recycled aluminum will be used during the metal pour. Materials are supplied but students are encouraged to bring scrap aluminum for the final casting.

Welding Workshop – Create Figures and Faces

Create whimsical figures and faces from found objects made of steel. Students are encouraged to bring in objects to include in their compositions. All metal objects must be sensitive to a magnet. Free materials will be available during the workshop.

Metal lovers, come observe a mix of small metal projects that you could do too! In this demonstration, you will see a crash course of blacksmithing and be introduced to the tools, the techniques, and the applications of metal working as an art form and as a craft. If you are nervous about trying out metal sculpture or blacksmithing classes, consider this, see what it’s all about and be inspired!

Bronze Casting Workshop Nov 9-10

An introduction to a variety of techniques in the creation of wax sculptures. Once the wax sculptures are made, students prepare their waxes with gates and sprues in preparation for the ceramic mold-making process. Waxes are coated with state-of-the-art ceramic shell, and then the wax will be burned out, and the molten bronze poured into the molds. Cost includes a five pound bronze sculpture, with the option to purchase additional material for larger works. Students are responsible for finishing the polishing and coloring of final castings.

Focus on creating a Kinetic sculpture from found objects. Artwork that hangs from the ceiling and sculptures that are mounted on stands for the yard. Fishing swivels, bearings, hinges, wheels and many more forms will be used to make art move with the wind. Materials will be supplied but students are welcome to bring their own parts.

Learn how to use Corian marble creating sculptures for the house and garden. Explore forming techniques using heat and special prepared shapes for achieving creative forms and patterns. How to join surfaces and applying various finishes will be experimented with along with technique in mounting the final sculpture.

Create designs for your garden wall or living room area. This is an opportunity to make site specific art pieces to enhance your environment. Bring in found objects to embellish your compositions while attaching the forms to an armature for mounting to a wall. Many materials will be made available for student at the workshop.
