Corian Marble Sculptures Nov 23-24
Learn how to use Corian marble creating sculptures for the house and garden. Explore forming techniques using heat and special prepared shapes for achieving creative forms and patterns. How to join surfaces and applying various finishes will be experimented with along with technique in mounting the final sculpture.
Metal lovers, come observe a mix of small metal projects that you could do too! In this demonstration, you will see a crash course of blacksmithing and be introduced to the tools, the techniques, and the applications of metal working as an art form and as a craft. If you are nervous about trying out metal sculpture or blacksmithing classes, consider this, see what it’s all about and be inspired!

Bronze Casting Workshop Dec 14-15

Experiment with a variety of casting techniques using aluminum. Students will work in wax, carve styrofoam and use found object to create small sculptures. Recycled aluminum will be used during the metal pour. Materials are supplied but students are encouraged to bring scrap aluminum for the final casting.

Professional sculptor David Cumbie guides students as they create life-size busts. Students will learn techniques for capturing accurate proportions of the head and a variety of facial features during this intensive, two-day workshop.
Welding Workshop – Sculptures in Motion
Focus on creating a Kinetic sculpture from found objects. Artwork that hangs from the ceiling and sculptures that are mounted on stands for the yard. Fishing swivels, bearings, hinges, wheels and many more forms will be used to make art move with the wind. Materials will be supplied but students are welcome to bring their own parts.

Welding Workshop – Create Figures and Faces
Create whimsical figures and faces from found objects made of steel. Students are encouraged to bring in objects to include in their compositions. All metal objects must be sensitive to a magnet. Free materials will be available during the workshop.
Travel the Backroads to Historic Places: The Yearling Trail

Explore hidden architectural and cultural treasures in the landscape and the communities immortalized by legendary Florida writer Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings. The workshop will provide a contemporary window into the region’s past and rich heritage. Photographic opportunities include natural and man-made landscapes, local landmarks, as well as the interior of historical buildings.
Optional but recommended, the participants will also have examples of work that can be submitted to the “alternative photography.com” "World Cyanotype Day“ online community event 9/28/2024.
Oil & Acrylic Critique Workshop
Open to any Crealdé member that paints in oils or acrylics. Bring up to four paintings that you feel are finished but not sure, unfinished but need further guidance or just want to make it better. Attendants listen to critiques of the work of others and maybe gain some insight as to what they may want to consider for their next painting. Be sure to bring paper and pencil to list what might be suggested. It would be beneficial if the students sent photos of their work to be critiqued in an email several days before this class.

Japanese Paper Marbling and Bookbinding
In this workshop, students will learn the Japanese way of marbling paper and binding books. We will start with Sumingashi, a form ofJapanese Paper Marbling, then transform the papers created into covers for two books students will bind in a Japanese stab-binding style.
French Link Stitch with Ribbon Book Binding 11/10
Learn to bind this beautiful book by hand using a French link stitch with ribbon support. A variety of papers, ribbons, and threads will be available for students to choose from. Exercise your creativity, and at the end of the workshop, take home a book that is uniquely yours. No previous bookbinding experience necessary.

Build and Fire a Rocket Kiln on a Budget
Ceramics meets permaculture as the class works together to build a super-efficient Rocket Kiln from a discarded electric kiln. using just a few cut up palettes of wood and in just a few hours, students will soda-fire their cone 10 bisque pieces. Because this kiln fires with no visible smoke, it can be placed in and urban driveway, art center or off grid studio. The workshop will include a brief lecture, artist talk and demonstration of Lisa’s artistic practice in clay.
Decorate and complete your own clay darbuka drum using traditional techniques and learn to play it. On the final evening, participants will have the opportunity to participate in a vibrant drum circle and public performance that weaves together clay and music to foster cultural connection, collective identity, and community healing. Though hand-made drum bodies will be created in advance, we will explore various ways to make your own. Participants will go home with a quality instrument that they helped create to be a part of their lives going forward.

Wonders of Woodcut Printmaking Workshop
Come and discover the oldest form of relief printmaking. You will learn how to carve and print your own woodblock by printing by hand and with a small etching press. At the end of the workshop, you’ll have a series of unique prints and a desire to learn more about this fascinating art form. All materials are provided but bring your creative ideas and lunch. The blocks used will be 4 x 6 inches.

In this workshop, artists learn how to make high-resolution, correctly color-corrected photographs of their art. High quality digital photographs of two- and three-dimensional art is essential for artists submitting art for exhibition, publication, and sales. This hands-on workshop will provide lighting and art to photograph. Students may also bring their own artworks to photograph in the workshop.
Travel the Florida Backroads to St. Augustine
Discover hidden architectural and cultural treasures in America’s oldest city, including lesser-known historic sites and neighborhoods which will be explored during an extensive city walk. On the road to St. Augustine the group will travel on Volusia County’s Scenic Loop along the Halifax River and the day will culminate with a waterfront dusk photography session. In 2015, the instructor directed the St. Augustine at 450 documentary photography project, which became an official exhibition of the city’s celebration year.
Note: Due to the summer temperatures, there will be several indoor photo shoots away from the heat.
Oil and cold wax medium are beautifully suited for creating color and texture that transforms from subtle to bold. Discover the versatile methods that can be applied when painting with oil and cold wax. Through demos and discussions, you will then be set free to explore and discover on your own. Oil painting experience recommended.
